Hybrid vigour is when the progeny of two parent varieties displays superiority in vigour or other characteristics over both parents. The better performance is attributed to the fact that when genetically diverse parents are crossed the deleterious receive genes of one parent are hidden by the dominant genes of another parent (Heterosis).
