clubroot

A soil-borne disease that infects the roots of Brassica crops. Caused by the fungus like organism Plasmodiophora brassicae, an infection causes the roots to swell up into large club shaped lumps. The roots do not work properly and cannot absorb nutrients and water effectively. Spores can survive for more than 15 years in the soil.
